The momentum of Ramadan 1447 Hijri / 2026 AD was embraced by PT Phoenix Resources International (PRI) as an opportunity to spread kindness by hosting an iftar (breaking the fast) gathering with journalists.
A warm atmosphere of togetherness filled the event held at Thopoles Cafe, Jembatan Besi, Lingkas Ujung Subdistrict, on Thursday (March 5, 2026). Around 60 journalists from various mainstream and non-mainstream media outlets attended the gathering during this blessed month.
Several press and media organizations were also present, including PWI, IJTI, SMSI, JMSI, and Amsindo.
PRI’s Media Relations Officer, Mansyur, stated that this event has become a regular annual agenda held every Ramadan since 2024.
The gathering aims to serve as a platform for strengthening relationships between the company and media professionals, who are considered strategic partners.
“This is a routine annual activity and has been held three times since 2024. Its purpose is to foster stronger ties with media colleagues, including press organizations, media leaders, editors-in-chief, and social media associations,” said Mansyur.
A former journalist himself, Mansyur also expressed appreciation for media professionals who consistently uphold journalistic principles in reporting events.
He hopes that through this initiative, the strong relationship between PRI and media practitioners in North Kalimantan, especially Tarakan, will continue to grow.
Mansyur also expressed his hope for continued support from journalists in Tarakan so that PT PRI can maintain its presence and achieve optimal performance in pulp production. This, in turn, will enable the company to continue contributing to journalists, the wider Tarakan community, and regional development.
Since the construction phase of the pulp industry in Tarakan, PT PRI, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting various sectors. These include education, health, religious activities, MSMEs, infrastructure, environmental initiatives, and more, particularly for communities surrounding the company.
Recognizing the importance of this event, PRI plans to continue organizing similar gatherings every Ramadan to further strengthen relationships with media professionals.
“God willing, we will hold a similar event again next Ramadan,” Mansyur concluded. (*)
