The improvement of Sei Bengawan Indah Road in RT 02, Juata Permai Subdistrict, North Tarakan District, in the form of asphalt resurfacing carried out by PT Phoenix Resources International (PRI), has resumed.
This work represents the second phase of the project, conducted over two days on January 28–29, 2026.
“At the beginning of 2026, we are focusing on completing road sections that were not paved last year, as well as repairing potholes,” explained PRI’s Public Relations Officer, Eko Wahyudi.
The resurfaced road sections range from 60 meters, 30 meters, to 10 meters. Meanwhile, pothole repairs carried out by the pulp and paper company cover sections ranging from 2 to 5 meters, across a total of seven points.
“The resurfacing of Sei Bengawan Road in this phase covers a total area of 1,120 square meters. In comparison, the first phase in 2025 covered 1,200 square meters,” Eko added.
He emphasized that PRI remains open to communication should residents identify areas requiring further attention.
“If there are any areas that need to be reviewed or if there is feedback, we are ready to coordinate. We want residents to travel safely and comfortably,” he said.
The Head of RT 02, Sufa, expressed appreciation for the company’s commitment and support in improving public facilities in the area.
“Thank you to PT PRI for paving our road. Residents can now travel more comfortably,” she said.
She also noted that the road’s previous condition often posed risks to users, especially at night. Potholes in various sections not only disrupted comfort but also caused several incidents.
According to Sufa, this improvement is crucial, as Sei Bengawan Road serves as a main access route to schools, workplaces, and local economic centers.
“When the road is in good condition, it becomes easier for residents to carry out daily activities, and the local economy benefits as well,” she added.
Appreciation was also expressed by Nanda, a local shop owner along the road.
“The road has been paved, it’s now comfortable to use, and there’s no more dust. We are very happy—thank you, PRI,” she said.
For additional context, besides Bengawan Road, PT PRI had previously carried out asphalt paving works on Perum PNS Road in RT 21, Juata Permai. This reflects PRI’s ongoing commitment to supporting and improving the surrounding community environment. (*)
