Achieving Another Award for Reducing Stunting Rates in Tarakan

PT Phoenix Resources International (PRI) has once again received an award for its contribution to the prevention and acceleration of stunting reduction in Tarakan City.

The award was presented directly by the Deputy Mayor of Tarakan, Ibnu Saud Is, during the Thematic Pre-Musrenbang on Stunting held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Tarakan Mayor’s Office on Friday (March 13).

It is worth noting that this marks the second consecutive year that the pulp and paper company, operating in Juata Permai Subdistrict, North Tarakan District, has received this recognition.

In his remarks, the Deputy Mayor emphasized that addressing stunting is a long-term investment in national development, as it is closely linked to the quality of future human resources.

Through this recognition, the local government hopes to strengthen cross-sector collaboration in preventing and accelerating the reduction of stunting rates in “Bumi Paguntaka,” another name for Tarakan City.

In addition to the award presentation to contributing stakeholders, the event also included the signing of official minutes and a joint commitment to prevent and accelerate stunting reduction. PT PRI was represented by Ari Ristanti, Head of Community Development.

According to Ari Ristanti, stunting prevention and reduction programs in Tarakan, particularly in North Tarakan District, remain one of PRI’s priority initiatives in the health sector.

In 2025, several CSR-driven activities were implemented, including stunting edutalks aimed at pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency and parents of toddlers affected by stunting.

Additionally, children’s health check-ups were conducted for toddlers with stunting conditions, involving pediatric specialists, along with the provision of protein support and supplementary nutrition such as fruits.

These health check-up programs were followed by the distribution of specialized growth milk, tailored to each child’s needs based on medical examination results and prescriptions from pediatric specialists. (*)
